The Beginning

Romario ‘Qrush’ Brown was born on April 30, 1998 and was raised in the community of Douglas Castle, St. Ann Jamaica. His father , Vincent Brown was an avid lover of music and would  always be playing reggae songs and holding a vibe with Romario and his other siblings. This small act of bonding was so impactful on his son’s life that it heavily influenced young Romario at the mere age of 12 to pursue music, his dream as a career.

A Musical Journey

Believing that music was his ultimate calling, Qrush was introduced in 2010 to the Frenz For Real family in Tower Hill, Kingston Jamaica, where he later claimed as his home away from home.  It was there where he later got a chance to see a professional side of the music industry that he previously knew nothing of. This penultimate moment was now the reason Qrush would travel back and forth from home to work on his craft and gain as much exposure as he could.  As a result, it forced him even at that young age to work hard so that one day, he too could perform and record hits similarly to the the likes of Beenie Man, Ninja Man, Jose Wales, Merciless, Preditor, Natural Black, Tabby Diamond and many other stars that would regularly conduct dub plate services at the studio. At that time, Qrush was already in a group called Quick Flow with his friend, Dice. The group lasted for approximately 2 years before Dice decided that the journey was too difficult, but Qrush persevered.

From his days in school, he was always the one in class beating the desk and writing songs in the back of his books. However, his days at Claude McKay High School were cut short, due to the fact that his parents could not afford to send him and his other 2 siblings to school. Determined to be a breadwinner for his family, 15 year old Qrush stepped up to the platform and used this moment  to permanently move to Kingston.

Over the decade, he has gotten a lot of exposure; meeting a host of different artistes, and had small roles on Summer Sizzle and BBC 1Xtra with Seani B. However, things were not always easy but through thick and thin, Qrush stuck with his craft even though he admitted to friends that the music business was very tough and as such, he would have to do side hustles to make ends meet.

The Perfect Timing

Even in the worst of times, we are always given reasons to give thanks. This was a testament to Qrush’s music journey as it was during the Coronavirus pandemic that his journey has got an exponential margin of growth. He had impressed the team at Frenz For Real with his vibe, dedication, willingness and talent to the point where they dedicated time, efforts and resources to further his career, while also making history in making him the first artiste to be officially signed to the label.

Now, at the age of 22, he can admit that all the sleepless nights, hungry days and dull moments then are finally paying off. Now, Qrush is spending his days by taking his creativity to the people, putting everything in his music as he believes that he is now ready to show the world that it is definitely “His Time” at a shot at fame.
